TEMPORARY

Everyone in my family used to say that my great uncle would live forever. He was probably the most health conscious person you would ever meet. Once my mom offered him a donut and he said, "I might as well eat poison." Everyday he'd go swimming at a local community college's indoor pool and grew his own produce. About two months ago, he was diagnosed with cancer and was given two weeks to live. Last night he died. He was ninety. He didn't live forever.

This all reminds me that we, as humans, aren't invincible. We're all dying slowly from the moment we come into existence. At any given moment it could all come to an end. We aren't going to be here forever; it's all just temporary.

SUBSTITUTION

I am head over heels in love with the Alexander Wang Kirsten Satchel, but no so much the heavy price tag attached to it. There's no way I would ever spend nearly a thousand dollars on a bag, even if it's as close to perfection as this. So, I found an alternative.

I bought this bag by She & Josh from karmaloop for about $55. It's certainly no Wang and looks rather inferior next to it, but I quite like it and I'm happy that I got such a good deal on it!

FISHEYE 1

I got my first roll of film from my fisheye camera developed! The pictures were a bit of a hit and miss, but they still turned out charming and are a funny representation of our Friday night. I went to use the restroom and while I was gone someone tried to take some pictures with my camera but ended up turning the film rewinder instead. Oh well, I'm looking forward to using my next roll of film and seeing how that turns out!

NEW ADDITION

What better way to get back into shooting with film than with this exciting little thing? I haven't really done much of anything with photography in a long while and I think it's because I feel so disconnected from shooting with digital - it's all so predictable and boring. I love how you never know exactly how your film will turn out and then there's the excitement of waiting to see the finished result. The photos produced are much more novel, even the ones that are ugly or don't turn out too well. It's meant to be fun and experimental.

PLAYLIST - WORKOUT

Okay, so I've become completely obsessed with 8tracks. I'm glad that I discovered a place where I can share playlists I make; I've done so many of them and I just love doing it. Here's one full of songs that keep me pumped up while working out!

ELLEN ROGERS

One of my newest favorite photographers. Her images are dark, dreamlike, and leave me amazed by their beauty.
